Biography
I study the landscape ecology of (primarily Neotropical) perching birds, using stable isotope analysis to explore shifts in diet and breeding behavior caused by anthropogenic disturbance. I've contributed to projects estimating seasonality of acoustic behavior and community cohesion, migratory connectivity, and the stress gradient hypothesis. As a graduate assistant, I've taught Intro Biology, Zoology, Ecology and Evolution, and Human Anatomy. I also co-direct the CODE Workshop - a free, virtual series of short courses in data analytics skills that takes place every August.
I graduated from Smith College in 2016 with a B.A. in Biological Sciences with highest honors, and was awarded an Alumni Fellowship to attend the University of Oklahoma. I have since received fellowships from the NSF Research Traineeship program and the Defense Language and National Security Education Office (Boren Fellow, Taiwan), and have completed a virtual internship with the U.S. Embassy in Bioko, Equatorial Guinea studying human-wildlife conflict, and an ecological writing residency at the Sitka Center for Art and Ecology. My interests include Bayesian and spatial statistics, data management and visualization in R/rStudio, grant-writing, language study (Spanish and Mandarin), and STEM diplomacy. When I'm not birding, I am banding birds for my own research or someone else's. I live in Norman, Oklahoma with my partner, our two cats, and our dead houseplants.
